Bring On the Summer Heat

Mountain Bikers racing as part of the Raccoon Rally Cycling Festival at Allegany State Park
We are starting to finally feel the sunshine!  With summer making its official entrance this month, it is a time to relax out in the sun, take the family on vacation, feel energized by the abundance of light and explore your surroundings.  The place to be this summer for all the hottest events is in the picturesque hills of the Enchanted Mountains.  The Seneca Allegany Casino's sizzlin' summer line-up of events will get you out to enjoy those cool nights, as will the Little Valley Speedway and the Cattaraugus County Museum.  We sure know how to make the most of your summer and give you fun in the sun at our campgrounds – look for the Enchanted Mountains on Facebook for descriptions and photos.  Keep your eye out and GPS ready for 12 new caches along the New York Amish Geo Trail Part 2 (NYAGT Part 2) that were just released!  Discover this newest way to get you seeing the countryside of our County.

The Seneca Allegany Casino has a superb series coming at you this summer.  The events for June alone include John Legend (June 13), Melissa Etheridge (June 22), and Jeff Dunham (June 27).  Purchase your tickets fast though, as they are sure to sell out quickly!  Plan ahead for Survivor, KC and the Sunshine Band, Yes, and Jim Gaffagin all coming in July.

Get your engines roaring with the heat of competition sitting alongside the dirt track.  Visit Little Valley Speedway located on the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds for their monthly night of races, including many different models and a fireworks spectacular for the 3rd and 4th of July.   Come out to support your favorite car or just to have some fun in the stands.

Spend your "Summer at the Stone House."  The Cattaraugus County Museum (formerly known as the Poor or Stone House) is hosting events all summer long in their Civil War and Cultural Programs series.  Even if you're not a history buff, there will be something for you to enjoy.  Whether it's listening to the old time music from the war, seeing re-enactors, or learning how to determine the age of arrowheads, nine events in total all lead up to the 100-year celebration of the dedication of the museum!  Join in this afternoon event that will showcase a brass band, guest speakers and an encampment.

All the Towns in our County are on board to provide you with a great start to summer.   Join Randolph in their 2014 Arts and Craft Festival on June 14.  This FREE event is filled with vendors along the historic Main Street, children activities and live entertainment.  The Hinsdale American Legion Post will host their first annual Ischua Valley Summer Fest with a motorcycle scavenger hunt, horseshoe tournament, live music and dice run June 22-24.  Afterwards, on June 24, hop over to Allegany for the start of the 77th annual Old Home Week.   Enjoy a carnival, parades, and firemen water fights!

Horse loverslook no further than the Enchanted Mountains for magnificent rides through old forests, friendly guides, and as many equestrian events as you could hope for.   Compete in the Little Valley Riders Club Extreme Cowboy events starting June 1, or Creekside Round-Up's Open Family Game Show on June 15.  Ride along with the gang at the Spring Trail Ride at Allegany State Park the weekend of June 6, or with the Horse Council on a Father's Day Ride at Pine Hill.

Nothing quite says summer like going on a camping trip.  Our campgrounds offer an escape from the ordinary and a chance to reconnect with each other and nature.  Lake Lane Getaway hosts a FREE fishing derby the kids are sure to love, June 7-8, with lots of huge prizes!  Each campground has many unique features and more can be found by visiting the Enchanted Mountains website.  Allegany State Park has one of the coolest events coming the last weekend of June … the annual "Raccoon Rally" turns the Park into everything "cycling."  Compete in any of the races or watch from the sidelines.  One of the fan favorites is the rock jumping event, where cyclists masterfully navigate a course through and on Thunder Rocks.

So rule your summer by making a trip to the Enchanted Mountains of Western New York.  For FREE information on any of these activities or events, or to request free guides, call 1-800-331-05431-800-331-0543 or visit EnchantedMountains.com.
