American Pickers Look to Salamanca

American Pickers TV Show personalities Mike and Frank

American Pickers TV Show personalities Mike and Frank only pick private collections, meaning no stores, malls, flea markets, museums, auctions, businesses or anything open to the public. They are looking for anyone in the area with large, private collections. Help spread the word!

Be on the lookout for treasure hunters seeking some of America’s best picks right here in Salamanca, NY.

That’s right, the team from “American Pickers,” a documentary series on the History Channel, is making its way to the area within the next few months.

“I got a call from the producer saying that the show was fascinated by our rich history and would like to come to Salamanca,” said Jenny Ingrao, Member Services and Events Manager for the Seneca Salamanca Chamber of Commerce. “They needed our help to spread the word to get leads to come and pick. Once the leads are gathered, they will be setting a specific date to come to the Salamanca area.”

The fourth season of American Pickers premiered in December on the History Channel. It follows two highly skilled pickers - Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz - who travel across the country seeking unique antiques. Their mission: to find America’s “most fascinating and valuable antiques - treasures that have been long forgotten in junkyards and in barns across the country.”

American Pickers tracks the team as they search high and low with determination and drive to find the stuff this country is made of … good or bad. While fishing for finds, Mike and Frank chat up collectors, talk tales of treasured tokens, and highlight our history.

While watching, you’ll also discover how to strike the ultimate deal, and ways to pick out the perfect antiques for personal keepsakes or to renovate and resell.

“This has created quite a buzz for the area within the community already,” Ingrao said. “We know how special and unique the relationship between the Seneca Nation of Indians Territories and Salamanca are, and for a national show on the History Channel to stumble upon it is fantastic. Not only will they have a great time picking, there will also be a great story to tell about our area.”
